Restaurants and bars tend to come and go, as everywhere, but here is a selection of some of the better places.
- Restaurant Clotal; on Clotal Beach, perfect spot, especially for families and large groups. Delicious paellas and seafood. Try fideua - a paella made with macaroni instead of rice.
- Bar Eden; near north beach, good paella, but order day before. Pool in garden.
- Institut Bar; Good for platos combinados (mixed dishes) and tapas.
- Monte Cristo; at Oliva Playa, pleasant atmosphere and generally good all-round restaurant.
- There are also a couple of beach restaurants where good paellas and fidueás can be enjoyed, near the telephone kiosk at Oliva Playa. Try Deportes, it's superb. (Remember paella or its macaroni-based equivalent, fideuá, are really lunchtime dishes. No self-respecting Spaniard would order a paella for dinner).
- Late night summer haunts: Open until the early hours are the chiringuitos or beach bars. At the roundabout at Oliva Playa, turn right past the telephone kiosk and follow the beach road for a mile. You'll come to three or four of these bars, but they do seem to chop and change and move up and down the coast.
